
What is needed to apply for a NSFAS Bursary in 2023?
Those who are eligible for this bursary are South African citizens planning to commence their studies in 2023, or those already studying at a public university or technical and vocational education and training college, meeting the following criteria:

– SASSA recipients automatically qualify according to financial eligibility

– Combined household income should not exceed R350 000 annually
– For those with a disability, the combined family income should not be higher than R600 000 per year
– An email address and mobile number must also be provided.
What is necessary during the application process?
You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:
- Your own cellphone number and email address
- Copy of your ID or birth certificate
- ID copies of parents, guardian or spouse (If applicable)
- Your proof of income or 1 year IRP5 (if applicable)
- Your parents, guardian or spouse proof of income
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
- Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, here to download
- An applicant who is recognised as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, here to download.
