Applications for the NSFAS Bursary 2023 are currently available to South African youth (National Student Financial Aid Scheme).

What is needed to apply for a NSFAS Bursary in 2023?

Those who are eligible for this bursary are South African citizens planning to commence their studies in 2023, or those already studying at a public university or technical and vocational education and training college, meeting the following criteria:

SASSA recipients automatically qualify according to financial eligibility

– Combined household income should not exceed R350 000 annually

– For those with a disability, the combined family income should not be higher than R600 000 per year

– An email address and mobile number must also be provided.

What is necessary during the application process?

You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:

  1. Your own cellphone number and email address
  2. Copy of your ID or birth certificate
  3. ID copies of parents, guardian or spouse (If applicable)
  4. Your proof of income or 1 year IRP5 (if applicable)
  5. Your parents, guardian or spouse proof of income
  6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  7. Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, here to download
  8. An applicant who is recognised as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, here to download.
